ACU STUDENT, JIDE ALABI SETS UP OWN CLOTHING BRAND

An entrepreneurial 19-year-old has set up his own clothing brand. Jide Alabi from the very city of Lagos, opened his own clothing line specialising in unique designs  since late last year.

Starting his own business Tinto Concepts was not daunting for the 400 level student of Ajayi Crowther University. He said: “I started it mainly as a challenge. "i did it at The National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO). Right there, it is compulsory to wear native on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Well, i did not have enough coupled with the fact that i did not like it. I just wanted to put on corporate wears so i decided to combine the both and went
for the training which lasted three months. I make use of regular cotton, linen, ankara, kente also known a the Ghanian ankara, jan materials, animal skin and so on.

The uniqueness of Tintoconcepts' designs is that it gives Africans the ability to still look African in our westernized world. I really can't wait to order for mine. More of Jide's works after the cut.
